We seek to inhabit our favorite places, the ones that mark out our comfort zone. We are reluctant to move out of it. But Life is an ongoing call for change because change is what keeps energy in motion and Life is energy in motion.
We think the perfect life is when we will no longer be required to change, when we have got everything just where we want them. But something unexpected happens and often something undesirable like ilnness or death or a job loss or a relationship breakdown and we feel cheated, betrayed, unjustly treated. We had just about got life where we wanted it but life had other plans. After all, Life had never stood still, why would it now?
So willingly or reluctantly, we are hauled back into it and we must respond. How we choose to will determine how effortlessly or effortfully we travel on. But move we must or we die, not in an ultimate sense for ultimately there is no death, only change of form.
No, this death is a death of desire, the desire to experience and express more and more of who we truly and naturaly are and less and less of who we have learned to be.
Interested in Mentoring?
EACH MONTH, I work with a small number of people (about 6) in a mentoring capacity. It is highly personalized and uses a body-centred phenomenological (lived experience rather than theoretical) approach and draws on mindfulness and reflective practices. If this sounds interesting to you, you can find out more here.
