Tread lightly on each other’s worlds
lest you wake a slumbering giant or
disrupt the innocent’s sleep
Tread lightly on each other’s worlds
for theirs is precious to them
as yours is to you
Even though we carelessly, thoughtlessly, hurriedly, angrily, fearfully tread our own
take care to tread another’s otherwise
for we are always a guest at the best of times
an intruder at others
Children have their own worlds too
although we often assume they’re ours
Tread carefully there too, perhaps more so
For your footsteps will be forever and deeply imprinted there
Tread carefully on your own world
You are its only keeper, its lord and lady, its heir and beneficiary
Tread carefully for your footprints never leave
though they can always make new pathways
Interested in Mentoring?
EACH MONTH, I work with a small number of people (about 6) in a mentoring capacity. It is highly personalized and uses a body-centred phenomenological (lived experience rather than theoretical) approach and draws on mindfulness and reflective practices. If this sounds interesting to you, you can find out more here.
