1. If I am not prepared to find peace within myself, where do I expect to find it?
2. If I am not prepared to encounter truth and experience its peace using methods that have been tried and tested, how am I prepared to encounter it?
3. If I feel reluctance, resistance, fear, anxiety about encountering truth, about allowing myself to fall into deep peace, would it make sense to gently and lovingly question why?
4. If I have disempowering beliefs about myself and indeed about others (eg I am not good enough, I’ll never get to B unless I master A, S/he cannot be trusted, S/he has no real respect for me…), how would I like to deal with such beliefs?
5. Do I want to live my life relying on and being driven by the distrusts and fears I have of myself and others or the faith and love I have within and of myself?
6. If I understand something intellectually, is it enough to convince me of its truthfulness, its validity?
7. What would help convince me of the truthfulness or validity of something?
8. Until I find my ‘own, unique’ way, am I willing to be guided by the wisdom and experience of those who have experienced the kinds of things that I want to experience?
9. What are the kinds of things I want to experience? How have I chosen them? What ‘rewards’, ‘satisfactions’ do I believe they will give me?
10. Have I kept myself familiar with the timeless truths of life and gently and lovingly interrogated them to personally experience their truth or otherwise?
Interested in Mentoring?
EACH MONTH, I work with a small number of people (about 6) in a mentoring capacity. It is highly personalized and uses a body-centred phenomenological (lived experience rather than theoretical) approach and draws on mindfulness and reflective practices. If this sounds interesting to you, you can find out more here.
